Welcome to Devonport Christian School!

I am Chad Smit and it is an honour to be part of the team as Principal at Devonport Christian School. Our community is a vibrant, enthusiastic, and fun place of learning, where your child is loved, nurtured, and provided with high quality education in a Christian environment.

Our school was founded by a group of local parents in 1992 who shared a desire to have their children brought up in the training and instruction of the Lord. We now form part of a network of deeply committed Christian schools throughout Australia through Christian Education National (CEN) and are closely tied with other Christian schools on the Northwest Coast of Tasmania.

As a father of three children, two of whom still attend Devonport, my wife and I love that our kids are growing in faith and knowledge, striving to find their place, and developing their personal understanding that God has a perfect plan for each of them. It is our hope that our three children, alongside every other student learning at DCS, are encouraged to acknowledge and develop their potential as future leaders and form a generation eager to make a difference.

Our team of dedicated and professional educators share a passion for Christian Education – they go beyond the ordinary and see the bigger picture of God’s world and our place and purpose within it. 

Devonport students are encouraged to be contemporary learners and innovators in STEM, hone their creative flare through the arts, show their stamina and grit in sport, demonstrate love and care through faith and service, and pursue excellence in academics.

At Devonport, we value our community as an important and significant influence for our children and seek to partner with families to create a village, ready to excel in the faith and learning development of our children.
